Poetry Sample: "Home"

I fall into the water gracefully
The tiniest drop of a splash rises above my head

The water slides over my skin
Welcoming me back
My old friend

I break the surface
Breathe
Return to my world

My toes graze the wall
Plant
Push
And I’m gone

Gliding forward
Gracefully
Satin currents flow past
Caressing my limbs as I go by

I take the water by the hand
Stroke after stroke
Breathing here and there

When I curl to turn
The water embraces my whole body

I leave the water
But it does not leave me

It lingers
