Poetry Sample

Paradox

I remember empty, silent skies
Only clouds were floating by
The sounds of the neighborhood filled my ears
While other images occupied my mind

Petals of dust and debris peeling back to reveal
Nothingness
People who chose to plummet and splatter
Rather than stay and suffocate
Screaming: people, sirens, buildings screaming

The horrors filled my mind

But all around was peace
